Just typing out one-year-old still feels so surreal. It’s taken me two (or three) extra weeks to write this post. But today, Brigham had his one year appointment at his new pediatrician’s office! There’s no denying it now =)
Let’s jump right to it, shall we?
His stats . . .
Weight: 23 lbs, 1 oz – 48th %
Height: 31 in – 78th %
Head Circumference: 47 – 63 %
Brigham is right where he should be with the exception of height. He’s a little bit taller than average, which is no surprise to us. We make tall babies. That’s just how we roll. Brigham also has quite a belly on him. The boy loves food. He honestly eats more than I do. His appetite is impressive.
This is our dearest Brigham at 1-month-old.
Yep, I just died and went to heaven. How sweet was he? Oh my, how this mama’s heart misses that teeny tiny little newborn. He fit just right in my arms.
Brigham thinks he is older than he is and I absolutely attribute this to his big brother Landon. There is no choice but to keep up or get left behind. And oh, the horror of being left behind! Hence the beginning of walking at 8 months!
Since he has already been walking for four months he has that down pat. He’s onto running now. Yes, my one-year-old runs. Pretty fast, I might add. He also climbs up and down stairs. See, I told you he thinks he is older than he is.
He’s saying a few words now but language is not so important to Brigham. Screaming and screeching are still his main forms of communication.
But sometimes he humors us with a few words such as:
Dadda
Ball
Quack Quack
Turtle
Vroom Vroom
Choo Choo
With Landon, the word I was waiting to hear more than any other was mama. He finally said it after 17 months. But with Brigham, I find myself waiting to hear him say Landon. I wonder how he will say it. Will it be Lala, Lada or some form of brother? Landon is his favorite person in the world so I’m assuming it will come before mama. And that’s okay with me. I was so worried about words with my first child. With my second child? I know he will talk when he is good and ready. I’m not worried at all.
Let’s take a walk down memory lane.There were a couple monthiversary onesies that got skipped along the way so I just found a photo that was taken on that date and plugged it in. Hopefully I can figure out how to edit the photos so I can have a nice 12 month frame =)
So there you have it. Twelve amazing months with our darling boy.
I hope you all have enjoyed seeing him grow throughout his first year. I’m not gonna lie. It was a very challenging year for all of us. Mostly because of all the sickness our little guy had to endure and a surgery at only six months. Despite all the hard times there were so many good times that overshadow the bad. Not to mention the love. Ooooooh, oodles of love. Briggy loves hugs and kisses and cuddles. He was born a mama’s boy and I think he’ll stay that way.
No complaints from this mama =)
