31 Days of the Shred: Day 1

If you didn’t see the post where I announced I’ll be doing the 30-day shred during the month of October you can find it here. I’m linking up with The Nester for her 31 Days link-up party and I’m excited to get started! Here we go!

Day 1 -

Weight: 123.5 lbs
(for reference, I weighed about 115 in college and would like to be back there someday)

I pumped out Day 1 of the 30-day shred last night. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this DVD it is done by Jillian Michaels of The Biggest Loser. The premise is to work out each day for 30 days. The workout involves three circuits. Three minutes of strength training, two minutes of cardio and one minute of abs. You do all this three times. It lasts about twenty minutes from start to finish, which is the part I love! I just cannot commit to an hour of working out. It feels like too much with so little time to give. Twenty minutes is far easier to manage.

So how do I feel about my first night? Well, I’m not gonna lie. It was hard! I was out of breath within a minute. What can I say? I am really out of shape. But I kept going and I’m glad I finished. My whole body felt like jello afterward.

This morning my legs and arms are already sore. I’m sure it’s only going to get worse as the day goes on. What kills me are the push ups and squats. Not fun.

With working out comes a fresh agenda to be healthier. I don’t want to eat fast food this month. I’m so tired of treating my body like a trashcan. And that’s exactly what all that food is. T-R-A-S-H.

I am also starting vitamins to hopefully ramp up my immune system for the coming flu and cold season. I’m tired of getting every little cold that the boys bring home.

So here’s to good health! And toned muscles and endurance and not breathing like an old man with emphysema.

Day 2 is happening tonight, people!

  1. Go Molly! You can do it!

PS- Are you planning to do 31 days in a row with no breaks? That’s impressive! (Totally do-able, but impressive!)

    • Molly says:

Yes, no breaks! I think the thing that will get difficult is if I have a night where something is going on and we don’t get home until late. But I’m willing to do it at 10:00 if I have to!

  2. Way to go!!

I have a confession. For my Birthday…THREE YEARS AGO…. I asked for The Shred DVD and some hand weights. It’s still in it’s orginial packaging, never even opened. I really need to change that!!

Can’t wait to see the changes!

Good for you!! I’ve done the 30 Day Shred a few times and it was hard and eventually I was able to get to the point that I was used to it. Then like a genius I thought I’d try level 2…… omg…. after that I was sure I was going to die!

I tried to do all 30 days about 2 months ago and made it like 8 before I fell off the bandwagon. I am hoping to start again! :) GOOD LUCK!
