Mother’s Day 2013

Mother’s Day 2013

Just feeling so blessed that these two guys give me a reason to celebrate Mother’s Day.

We went to my parents house for dinner and seeing my boys riding their bikes in the same
cul-de-sac that I learned to ride my bike in was a fantastic moment for me.

We had a picnic in the park for lunch. The weather was so nice and I get no greater joy than watching my boys have fun together outside.

Easter was good

We had a wonderful Easter weekend, filled with family and food. Naaman was supposed to work but he got canceled so we got to spend the day together as a family of four. It doesn’t happen often but when it does it is so much sweeter.

The boys were so cute together. It really made me stop and think how blessed we are with these special little boys in our lives.

Life is busy but I just had to take a few minutes and share these photos.

I don’t really care that Christmas is over

I never really posted about our Christmas. I took a blogging break and lived my life! And it was awesome. I was shocked that I barely even took pictures on my DSLR. I primarily used my phone and got some good ones.

Here’s my boys the night before Christmas. Holding hands. In matching jammies. I mean, come on!

And here they are ready to open packages on Christmas morning . . .

I could sit here and post a bunch of pictures showing you how wonderful it was. But I think these photos are enough. The holidays were such a blessing. It has been hard to move on. In fact, I still have one holiday decoration up. I can’t help it. It was just that good.

Their jammies were purchased for a bargain from Lakeside Collection. I ironed on their names and they turned out perfect!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Just like last year I’ve decided to take a short break from blogging so I can fully enjoy the week with my family. I hope you all enjoy each other with warmth in your home and in your heart.

A very Merry Christmas to all my faithful blog readers. Enjoy your celebrations and see you in 2013!

Trimming the House

I’ve never been one to get crazy about Christmas. I’m not sure why but in past years, on occasion, I’ve been a real scrooge. I think it has to do with the season change. It gets much darker quicker and it puts me in a . . . mood. I’m just one of those people who needs the sun to set at 8:00 p.m. not 5:00 p.m. . . . sigh.

Last year was our first year in our new home. I can’t even remember decorating the house. My mother-in-law let us borrow lighted garland and graciously put it up on the banister. It ended up being beautiful. Thankfully she came down and did it again. Because man, that stuff scratches your hands. Ignore the bucket on the stairs. We were cleaning.

Surprisingly, we have put up the tree and decorated the mantle. I’m really into it this year. Our home feels so cozy and warm. I think we need a taller, fuller tree but this works for now! I loved taking out each ornament and remembering its special meaning. We have ornaments to celebrate buying a dog, getting married, home ownership, pregnancies and births. Looking at our tree is like looking over the past six years of our lives. Amazing feeling.

My favorite Christmas decorations by far are our stockings. I got them at JC Penney for 75% off after Christmas one year.  I love the burlap look to them. It has that certain old-fashioned look to it.

You’ll notice the television is no longer there. It’s now a mirror that beautifully reflects light. Now I can decorate the mantle for each season! I plan on putting some bunting that says “Merry Christmas” draped across the mirror.

So that’s a peek into our home especially since so many people comment that they’d like to see more of it. I’m really in the decorating mood. Our shelves are here and our new rug is on the way! Finally, a year and a half after moving it finally feels like home.

Grateful

Grateful for enjoying fall with these two hooligans.

Grateful for my first son and his sweet smile.

Grateful for my second son and his cheesy, squinty smile.

I’m grateful for a loving husband and a warm and wonderful house we are making a home.

I’m grateful for snacks and books and internet and snacks. Oh wait.

I’m grateful for our health.

I’m grateful that every day is a new day and for the choice to make it good.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! Warm wishes for a family-filled holiday.

Halloween 2012

Halloween was so much fun this year! Last year, Brigham was only 18-months-old and was riding around in a stroller. This year, watch out! They are both on the loose and ready for candy!

We always go to my sister’s house and trick or treat in their neighborhood. Piping hot chili for dinner and candy bars for dessert :) I love Halloween!

Captain America, ready to save you from harm!

Gold power ranger and Captain America!

The whole crowd including my nephew Harrison as an astronaut and my niece Charlotte as Cinderella!

Naaman with Baby Charlotte.

Let’s get this show on the road!

Brigham was so into it this year. Last year he was in a stroller! But this year he could have gone to a hundred houses if we would have let him.

Trick or treat!

The policeman handing out treat bags.

Brigham enjoying his loot. He wanted to eat everything that night!

Landon chowing down on a candy bar!

Can’t wait to see what my boys will be next year!

Fabulous Fourth

We had a fabulous Fourth! It started with a parade downtown in my sister’s neighborhood. The kids hung out with their cousin Harrison. We had never taken the boys to a parade before and they seemed to really like it. There were fire trucks, a drumline and people passing out candy!

Next we headed to my parents house for dinner and swimming! Landon likes the American flag. He knows the Pledge of Allegiance and was saying it while holding the flag. Too cute.

The boys wore matching shirts much to Naaman’s chagrin. I think it’s adorable. He thinks it’s lame. Oh well, I win.

We let the boys stay up late and go to the city’s big fireworks display. This was Brigham’s first year watching it and he was memorized. He kept saying wow and boom! It was quite something!

Nothing like watching fireworks with family and a box of popcorn.

(do my kids not look exactly alike in these photos!)

Fourth of July has always been my favorite holiday. I’m so glad we made some great memories with family. I hope yours was swell too!
