my week in iphone photos (5)

20110702-103956.jpgmonday morning: in an unprecedented event I shaved my legs. It’s in the nineties here and I figured my legs needed a break from pants.

20110702-105732.jpgmonday afternoon: Grandma Connie & Grandpa Neil came up to see the kiddos. I had to work but while I was gone Landon picked me some weeds flowers.

20110702-104058.jpgmonday night: I accidentally purchased the wrong hair color. I usually go the safe route and buy honey butter. This is pretty light and I’m scared but also thinking I should just bit the bullet and use it.

20110702-104133.jpgmonday night: I am trying to move out of my comfort zone as far as style goes. I was thinking about changing my make-up and nail colors. This is a metallic color by payless’ new line and essie’s Absolutely Shore, which is a subtle sea-green color.

20110702-104214.jpgtuesday morning: Take a look at this mess. This is supposed to be my jewelry box.
#1. This is dated and I want a new way to keep my jewelry organized so I can easily see what I’ve got to choose from. This is one of the reasons I never wear accessories. They are all stuck together.
#2. Note the fake green beans and waffles, which belong in the playroom. Ahhhh, the glamorous life of a mom.

20110702-105057.jpgtuesday afternoon: the boys are always doing fun craft projects at daycare. It makes me feel good to know they do fun things while there. This is Brig’s license plate and those are his hand prints! Definitely saving this one!

20110702-104600.jpgtuesday night: Another problem area in our new house. This is supposed to be my office. It’s set up in the kitchen and it is not working for me. As you can see it is a disaster. I have no idea what is in that pile. Also? That person in the picture frame. Yeah, I don’t know them. It came with it and I have yet to add something personal to it. Help me. I am beyond frustrated with how to go about organizing this house!

20110702-104910.jpgwednesday morning: speaking of trying new things. I bought some hair bands. Extra bonus for making me look younger. Maybe a bit too young?

20110702-104716.jpgalso wednesday morning: blueberry almond flax oatmeal from target. It may look gross but it is absolutely delish! I wish I would be this good to my tummy every morning instead of skipping breakfast.

20110702-105319.jpgwednesday morning: getting a long overdue pedicure. My feet were in bad shape. It’s never good when the person taking care of your feet continuously comment on how awful they look. Yes, lady. They are my feet. I already know. But look how cute my new light green color turned out! The lady tried to get me to do hot pink. I told her I was not a hot pink person.

20110702-104939.jpgwednesday afternoon: Regrouping in my car with a drink from sonic. I feel sorry for people who don’t have a sonic near them. Because it is that awesome. Pouring one out for my sonic-less homies.

20110702-104519.jpgwednesday afternoon: Oh beautiful for spacious skies. I turned the music up and opened the sunroof. Let the vitamin D pour in on my head!

20110702-105213.jpgwednesday night: I forgot to take photos of my husband’s family BBQ! Lots of people I hadn’t seen for so long and I’m super sad I can’t show this off. But I am hoping to snag my sister-in-law’s photos and show you soon! This is a lake I passed that night on the long drive home. That’s a boat out there! It’s so serene at night.

20110702-105436.jpgall day thursday: on this day we had our huge company retreat. I was kind of dreading an all-day kumbaya session of “we’re great!” and “keep up the good work!” But then I won an award! You guys, I have not gotten an award in ages. I was so surprised. This is the highest honor you can get in my department. I got to walk up and receive my award from the owner of our company and 300 coworkers clapped and cheered for me. In case I haven’t mentioned it, I am the manager of volunteers for an amazing hospice company. I have been feeling really bad about being away from my kiddos so much lately and I desperately needed to be validated for my hard work. This couldn’t have come at a better time. I’ll talk more about what I do later. But for now – take a look at my awesome plaque that I will proudly display in my office!

20110702-105532.jpgthursday night: even though I was in a hurry to get dinner on the table after a long day I realized I needed to give the boys something nutritional. Fruit always seems to work for my guys and I even put it in a pretty arrangement on the plate! Then they smashed and ate it =)

20110702-105644.jpgsaturday morning: riding a bike with his helmet on inside the house. Oh, and all while eating a waffle. My little multi-tasker

20110702-105837.jpg saturday morning: I found this nifty little thing at a craft store. It’s a full scale staircase wall template to help me put photos up the staircase! Yes, I’m cheating. No, I don’t care. I am decoration-impaired and need all the help I can get.

20110702-105924.jpgsaturday morning: Brigham likes to lay down on the floor and pout when I scold him. As you can see his pouting never lasts for long.

20110702-110005.jpgsaturday morning: Landon loves to pucker up and give me kisses. He is such an affectionate little guy!

20110702-110113.jpgsaturday morning: both my boys on the built-in bench in the playroom. I have big plans for this little spot so stay tuned!

20110702-110202.jpg

saturday morning: this is the usual state of the playroom. Do you think I should paint the walls and if so, what color?

20110702-114917.jpg

saturday afternoon: I just adore this photo. He looks so grown up, does he not? I asked him what he was doing and he said, “I’m bogging, mommy.”  ::head desk::

my week in iphone photos (4)

Not as many photos taken this week. The state surveyors showed up at work and it was insanely stressful. How stressful was it, you ask? Let’s just say if we don’t pass then it’s bye bye job. To add to the fun – when they show up is anyone’s guess. It’s like a surprise party. Only no one likes the guest of honor and you need a drink bad but your annoying coworker bob forgot to bring the alcohol. Thanks a lot, bob.

Now, where was I? Oh yes, photos.

20110619-012859.jpg

I came home Monday to find a huge hole in the ground behind our new house. Looks like we’ll have some new neighbors in about 4 months. The houses in this new neighborhood are selling like hotcakes. Really expensive hotcakes.

20110619-013114.jpg

On Tuesday our recycling bin from our new trash service arrived. Apparently they want us to save the planet all by ourselves. It’s so big I could barely push it! But yay for recycling lots of stuff, right?!

20110619-013438.jpgAnother milestone for Brigham – he has graduated from fingers to fork! He gets more in his hair than his mouth. But look how cute!

20110619-013637.jpgOn Friday I participated in a Habitat for Humanity build. I was a bit worried about how this adventure would turn out. But turns out I have mad skillz. See that drill? I used that. More importantly I had so much fun with my fellow KC bloggers. More on this later!

20110619-014026.jpgOn Saturday we took the kiddos to our friends’ house for some splishin’ & splashin’. Four kids and they had a grand time together! Brigham was especially fond of the water and also rolling down the hill in James Bond fashion.

20110619-014559.jpgHe was shivering from the cold water so I wrapped him up in a towel. It’s times like these I wish he would still cuddle. But he is way over that. He is on the go constantly now. Moms of babies this is your warning. They will grow up. Cuddle them STAT.

20110619-014819.jpgWe walked to their downtown and had ice cream at a place called Poppy’s. It was delish. Landon & Anya got to know each other better. She is probably one of the most beautiful little girls I’ve ever seen.

20110619-015109.jpgAnd by the end of the week this was the state of my vehicle. That banana peel may or may not still be setting there.

20110619-015255.jpgI’ll leave you with this. Landon refuses to take a nap. The end.

my week in iphone photos (3)

This was supposed to be auto-posted on Sunday. FAIL.
It’s late but I’m posting it anyway.

20110612-111044.jpg

We picked up the ikea shelf I found on craigslist.
I’m currently deciding how to dress it up!

20110612-111340.jpg
We went to my favorite place (otherwise known as Target) to do some shopping. I decided to stop and have a snack with my boys. Salty pretzels with cheese. nom nom nom. And both my boys were so well-behaved at the store. Color me happy.

20110612-111718.jpg
I love this face.

20110612-111934.jpg

20110612-112355.jpg
I’m trying to get organized. The calendar hasn’t been put up yet but the weekly menu board is up and as you can see is actually being used! I’m so proud.

20110612-112616.jpg
Cayenne-rubbed chicken and grilled zucchini! It was yummy. Thanks to Suzanne (one of my blogher roomies!) for blogging the recipe.

20110612-113146.jpg
His belly is getting bigger by the day.

20110612-113602.jpg
I went to the cemetery to visit my friend. I wish I could go visit her anywhere else but here. She always made me laugh and I need to laugh right now. I put purple flowers on her grave. She loved purple. After calling many psychiatrists that day who could not see me for months I was scared. So I asked her if she could keep an eye on my situation and see if I could get an appointment sooner than 2 weeks.

20110612-114016.jpg
Wouldn’t ya know it? My psychiatrist called the very next day with a cancellation. I went to see him 20 minutes later and I am now armed with new meds so I can get back to being happy! Thank you, Amy.

20110612-114311.jpg
I also had a therapy appointment after over a month of not seeing her. It felt good to be back on that sofa again.

20110612-114502.jpg
Later that night I self-medicated with chocolate chip cookies. An essential part of depression if you ask me.

20110612-114633.jpg
Another essential part of depression? Chopping your hair off. I like it wavy!

20110612-114829.jpg
I painted landon’s room again. This was the third coat if you’re keeping track. Are you as sick of hearing about this orange paint as I am of painting it? Nevermind, that’s not possible.

20110612-115049.jpg

This was my grandmother’s writing desk and it has been passed down to me. I have big plans for this little desk. They include sanding, spray paint and new knobs. I keep reading on home decor blogs to fill your house with meaningful items. This is very meaningful.

my week in iphone photos (2)

20110605-081648.jpg

It was a short work week for me with the holiday. But it makes it really hard to go back after my 4-day weekend. I have been feeling very blah and anti-social at work lately. So much so that I go pick something up for lunch by myself and eat it in my car. Alone. In peace. It sucks sharing a tiny office with 2 other people.

20110605-082644.jpg

When I picked the boys up after work on Wednesday I could tell Brigham felt warm. By Thursday morning his temp was 102 so that meant no daycare for the boys and no work for mama. I could have asked my mom to help out but I just felt an aching in my heart to take care of my sick baby myself! Look at his sad little sick and sweaty face!

-082202.jpg

Of course staying home prompted a quick run to the drive-thru donut store down the street! I think these places exist in heaven. At least in MY vision of heaven they do.

20110605-083019.jpg

I am just glad we didn’t live down the street from this place during my pregnancies! I ate this ginormous twisty donut in one setting and of course felt like crap afterward. There is a price to pay for such tastiness.

20110605-083442.jpg

Here is Landon enjoying his sprinkle donut. This is usually what I order. He takes after me! And no, I don’t normally feed my toddler donuts for breakfast. It was a lazy day.

20110605-083737.jpg

My mood quickly went sour when I realized that one of the kitchen cabinets in our brand new house had split from bottom to top. I immediately called our agent and found out that this is what that construction warranty is for. Thank God as I was not a happy homeowner.

20110605-090716.jpg

For snack time we had fresh strawberries and string cheese. We’re classy like that.

20110605-091015.jpg

Then Landon played play-doh in his undies. I asked if he would put his pants back on and he seemed highly offended that I would suggest such a thing. I am now schooled on the fact that playing with play-doh can only be done sans pants.

20110605-091335.jpg

Continuing the classy foods theme we had spaghetti & meatballs for dinner. Frozen meatballs from target. Have you ever had them? Then don’t judge me. They’re scrumptious.

20110605-091843.jpg

It was 95 degrees on Saturday with terrible humidity. Naaman bought the boys this little pool and they splashed about all afternoon. Our neighborhood is still so new that the pool has yet to be built. We’re hoping the clubhouse and pool will be done for next summer!

my week in iphone photos

A few of my blog friends have been doing this meme for awhile. I take a lot of photos with my iphone but no one ever sees them so I figured, hey, why not?! Hopefully I’ll be better at remembering which photos were taken on what day. But I can promise nothing.

20110529-103653.jpg

Progress is being made in different rooms of our new house. Sloooow progress. Here’s a sneak peek of the boy’s new colorful playroom!

20110529-103903.jpg

The first coat of orange paint is up in Landon’s room. I’m gonna be honest and say that I’m not sure orange was the best choice. My nose was pretty scrunched up as I painted. But for the love of all that is holy, I’m gonna press on (possibly while wearing sunglasses), finish the second coat and hope it grows on me. For the record? Landon loves it.

20110529-104242.jpg

The boys continue to surprise me with their new cool places they find to play. This precipitated a trip to the babies r us safety section. Good times.

20110529-104525.jpg

Hello, lovahs. Our new washer/dryer set arrived. Not only does it clean clothes. But it is super pretty and makes cool sounds when it’s done. It also has a cold water sanitize setting that uses 92% less energy. This wanna-be crunchy mama is happy!

20110529-105010.jpg

Severe weather including multiple tornado warnings managed to scare the shit out of everyone in our city and the Midwest as a whole. I am still having trouble accepting that a town two hours south of us was ripped to shreds. Word that a 16-month-old little boy was killed had me breaking down at work. I have hugged my kids a little tighter this week that is for sure.

20110529-105451.jpg

It was nice to see a rainbow at the end of the week.

20110529-105749.jpg

I met some wonderful bloggers from kansas city on Friday! I was chosen for a wendy’s promotion and it ended up being really fun to meet some local moms who blog (more on this tomorrow!).

20110529-110216.jpg

We celebrated my dad’s retirement from teaching at a classic Kansas City restaurant called The Majestic. A live jazz band played including a cornet player, which just happens to be my dad’s instrument! Perfect. The steak was freaking amazeballs.

20110529-110547.jpg

Then it was off to the AMC theater movie suites. I had never been here before but it was awesome! We sat in huge leather recliners and I got to put my feet up the whole movie! Also? Hangover 2 is hilariously inappropriate. Two thumbs up!

20110529-112744.jpg

The next day the brigs and I weren’t feeling well. We had a wave of the vomits come through our household this past week. First Naaman, then Landon & lastly me and the Brigs. Thank the Lord it was short-lived so we can enjoy the rest of our long holiday weekend.

p.s. who knows how to get the smell of barf out of carpet? Please and thanks.

Did you take any photos on your phone this week? Well then, link up silly!
